About the Role

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with Chaucer Hospital—part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading independent healthcare provider—to recruit a dedicated Healthcare Assistant for their Wards / Nursing department.

In this vital role, you will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, doctors, therapists, and administrative staff to deliver safe, high-quality, and person-centered care to patients throughout their hospital stay.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs while strictly respecting their preferences and dignity.

• Nutritional Support: Help patients with eating and drinking, accurately documenting nutritional intake where appropriate.

• Emotional Support: Provide comfort and emotional reassurance to patients and their relatives, creating a caring, safe, and welcoming environment.

• Clinical Observations: Carry out and accurately record routine clinical observations, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).

• Clinical Assistance: Support basic clinical procedures such as wound care setup, catheter care, pressure area prevention, and the use of mobility aids.

• Ward Maintenance: Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including beds, trolleys, and medical equipment, in readiness for patient use.

• Collaborative Working: Partner with the broader healthcare team to support safe, seamless, and efficient patient care.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: Previous experience in a care or health support role (gained in a hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary setting).

• Attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuinely caring and compassionate attitude.

• Competencies: Ability to follow instructions carefully and escalate concerns appropriately; basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.

• Physical Capability: Physically able to undertake daily care duties, including moving and handling tasks.

• Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) is highly desirable.

• Knowledge: Sound understanding of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
