About the Role
Do you care about helping young people succeed and supporting their wellbeing every day? We are seeking a dedicated Student Support Leader to join the pastoral team at Lift Unity City—a thriving, diverse school in Middlesbrough known for its strong community culture and focus on student success.
In this pivotal pastoral role, you will look after students within a specific year group, guiding them through attendance, behaviour, and overall wellbeing. By building trusted relationships with students, families, and external agencies, you will play a key role in ensuring every child feels included, safe, and empowered to reach their potential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide proactive pastoral support and early intervention to help students feel included and supported in school life.
Work collaboratively with teachers, families, the SEND team, and external professionals to create effective support plans.
Monitor behaviour, attendance, and punctuality, using data tracking systems to identify trends and implement successful strategies.
Act as a key worker for vulnerable and "at-risk" students, including those with SEND or safeguarding needs.
Analyse data and report on student progress, behaviour, and pastoral trends to drive positive school outcomes.
What We Are Looking For
GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C (or equivalent) or above.
A strong background or experience in motivating young people, promoting high expectations, and managing behavior calmly with excellent de-escalation skills.
Good working knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and the education sector.
Solid data analysis skills with the ability to interpret trends and use insights to guide actions.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, parents, and professionals.
