We are acting on behalf of Diagnostic Healthcare Ltd—a trusted provider of medical diagnostic imaging services established in 2004—to recruit an experienced and motivated Sonographer for bank/casual shifts at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport.
In this dynamic and varied role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality, independent ultrasound scanning and reporting services. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams and diagnostic imaging assistants, you will manage clinic sessions efficiently while upholding Diagnostic Healthcare's core values of respect, care, professionalism, safety, and excellence.
1. Scanning & Clinical Reporting
Conduct independent, unsupervised ultrasound examinations in accordance with established clinical guidelines and Trust protocols.
Deliver comprehensive scanning and reporting services, utilising strong analytical and judgmental skills to interpret images and produce accurate reports.
Handle specialized competencies including general ultrasound, gynaecology, obstetrics (including early pregnancy), and testicular ultrasound. (Desirable: experience in full-leg DVT and MSK ultrasound).
2. Patient Care & Quality Assurance
Provide exceptional, compassionate patient care in a safe environment, managing patient flow smoothly and effectively across weekend clinic shifts.
Collaborate with referring clinicians, request Radiologist reviews when necessary, and participate in clinical governance, audit activities, and staff training.
Maintain personal and professional standards of excellence, staying current with medical ultrasound advancements.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Registration: Relevant professional qualification in Medical Ultrasound (DMU, PgD, or MSc) with current professional registration (such as HCPC or equivalent case-accredited body).
Experience: Proven post-graduate clinical knowledge and hands-on experience working within the UK public sector (NHS).
Competencies: Strong clinical judgment, independent working ability, excellent organizational and analytical skills, and empathetic communication capabilities.
Requirements: Ability to cover weekend shifts (Saturdays 08:00–14:00 and Sundays 10:00–14:00) and successful completion of pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS criminal record check and right-to-work verification.
Desirable Criteria
Proficiency in using patient management databases and PACS systems.
Specialized experience in full-leg DVT and MSK ultrasound scanning.
