We are acting on behalf of DoctorPA Secure LTD—an established provider of primary care services within secure environments since 2014—to recruit a dedicated and experienced General Practitioner (GP) to join their multidisciplinary healthcare team at HMP Erlestoke in Devizes.

1. Primary Care & Clinical Delivery
Deliver full general practitioner services, including clinical consultations, comprehensive assessments, accurate diagnoses, tailored treatments, and appropriate referrals.
Manage chronic diseases, acute clinical presentations, mental health conditions, substance misuse, and support structured detox pathways.
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records using the prison's electronic health record system.
2. Multidisciplinary Collaboration & Governance
Work collaboratively with nursing staff, mental health professionals, pharmacists, and external healthcare partners.
Engage actively in clinical audits, risk assessments, safeguarding processes, and clinical governance activities to support continuous service improvement.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Registration: Fully qualified General Practitioner with current, full GMC registration and an active licence to practise.
Experience & Competencies: Solid background in primary care with strong autonomous clinical decision-making, excellent interpersonal skills, and a clear understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding, and secure environment healthcare.
Vetting: Must successfully pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and hold active UK professional registration.
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience working within prison healthcare, secure units, or with vulnerable patient populations.
Additional qualifications or RCGP parts 1 & 2 in substance misuse, mental health, or sexual health.
Competitive Daily Rate: Attractive locum rate of £640 per day.
