Understand Your Role

About this course

This course covers Care Certificate Standard 1, Understand your role. It walks through your main duties and the codes and regulations that govern them, how to work in line with your employer's agreed ways of working, how and when to raise a concern and be honest when things go wrong, and how to build good working relationships and partnerships with colleagues, families, advocates and other professionals. Five modules, eighteen lessons, around two hours, finishing with an assessment and a SupportiveBridge certificate.

What you'll learn

• By the end of this module, you will understand your own role as a care worker, the standards and codes that govern it, how your own background shapes the way you work, and where the role can take you.
• By the end of this module, you will understand your employment rights and responsibilities, your employer's aims and values, and why and how to work within agreed ways of working.
• By the end of this module, you will understand how and when to escalate a concern, why honesty about errors matters, and the legal protection you have if you need to blow the whistle.
• By the end of this module, you will understand your responsibilities to the people you support and those close to them, how a working relationship differs from a personal one, and the range of working relationships you'll have in the role.
• By the end of this module, you will understand why partnership working matters, how to work well with people significant to someone's life, and how to build good partnerships and resolve conflict when it arises.
