A practical course for care workers on equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights. Learn what the law protects, how bias and discrimination show up in everyday care, how to respect each person's culture, faith and identity, and how to challenge, report and get support when something is not right.

What you'll learn

• By the end of this module, you will be able to explain what equality, diversity and inclusion mean, why they matter in care, and which characteristics the law protects.
• By the end of this module, you will be able to explain how bias and assumptions develop, name the main types of discrimination, recognise how they show up in everyday care, and understand discriminatory abuse.
• By the end of this module, you will be able to explain the main laws and standards that protect equality and human rights in care, and describe what they mean for you and your employer.
• By the end of this module, you will be able to find out what matters to each person, adapt care to their culture, faith, identity and communication needs, and avoid assumptions while doing it.
• By the end of this module, you will be able to respond safely when you see discrimination, deal with unacceptable behaviour from people you support or their visitors, and know how to report concerns and where to find support.
