As an Electrical Technician supporting the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), you will play a crucial part in maintaining a complex, safety-critical healthcare environment.
Working as part of a trusted estates team, you will handle everything from routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to urgent reactive repairs, ensuring essential electrical infrastructure, plant, and systems remain fully operational and compliant.
Estate Maintenance: Maintain electrical services, plant, and equipment across the hospital estate to high safety and performance standards.
Repairs & Fault Finding: Carry out reactive repairs, troubleshooting, servicing, commissioning, and maintenance as directed by estates management.
PPM Delivery: Deliver planned preventative maintenance across a wide range of electrical systems and equipment.
Safe Working Practice: Adhere strictly to site safety regulations, risk assessments, permits, and operational policies at all times.
Communication & Record Keeping: Communicate clearly with hospital staff and management regarding progress and service availability, while accurately logging work orders using computerized labor control systems.
This role operates on a 6-week rotating shift pattern, supported by a rotary shift payment of £1,950 per 52 weeks, plus enhanced overtime rates (0.5x time on Saturdays, 1x time on Sundays and bank holidays when rostered):
Block 1: Nights (22:00 – 06:00) | 7 Days On / 3 Rest Days
Block 2: Earlys (06:00 – 14:00) | 5 Days On / 2 Rest Days
Block 3: Lates (14:00 – 22:00) | 6 Days On / 2 Rest Days
Block 4: Earlys (06:00 – 14:00) | 6 Days On / 3 Rest Days
Block 5: Lates (14:00 – 22:00) | 5 Days On
We are seeking a qualified, safety-conscious electrical professional with a background in complex building services and a customer-focused attitude.
Formal Qualification: Completed a recognized electrical apprenticeship or equivalent structured training programme.
Technical Certifications: Relevant City & Guilds and/or BTEC electrical qualifications.
Industry Experience: Proven practical experience working in a similar environment, ideally within large or complex institutional/commercial buildings.
Systems Knowledge: Solid understanding of electrical building services and installation standards.
Vetting Requirement: Ability to successfully pass a Standard DBS check and complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire.
Lucrative Earnings: Base salary up to £45,951 per annum, plus rotary shift allowances and enhanced weekend/bank holiday overtime rates (total potential earnings of £55,000 – £60,000).
