Job Title: Scrub Practitioner - Bank
Location: King Edward VII's Hospital, 5-10 Beaumont Street, Marylebone, London W1G 6AA
Rate of Pay: £29 per hour
Contract Type: Bank, Part-Time (Monday to Friday and weekends, various shift patterns available)
We are partnering with the prestigious King Edward VII's Hospital in Marylebone, London—a renowned 56-bed private hospital with four operating theatres delivering top-tier, consultant-led elective, day-case, and inpatient care—to find an experienced and skilled Bank Scrub Practitioner. Backed by Bupa, the hospital specializes in orthopaedics, women’s health, urology, general surgery, endoscopy, and ophthalmic procedures with a strong emphasis on minimally invasive techniques and rapid patient recovery.
As a Bank Scrub Practitioner through Supportive Bridge, you will play an integral role in the surgical team. You will prepare patients and equipment, assist during complex clinical and operative procedures across anaesthetics and surgery, control cross-infection, and take charge of clinical areas when required to ensure patient and staff safety.
Assist in positioning and preparing patients as directed by the surgical team, ensuring specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched.
Maintain strict cross-infection control by adhering to departmental policies on dress, clean working environments, decontamination, sterilisation, and asepsis.
Prepare patients and provide expert assistance during clinical and operative procedures across both anaesthetics and surgery.
Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, and staff, and providing initial emergency care when needed.
Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use, faults are reported to the Theatre Co-ordinator, and supplies are ordered and managed efficiently.
Participate fully in department inductions, personal development plans, and data collection relating to theatre activity.
Essential Qualifications: Registered Nurse (1st Level Registration for Adult and/or Children), Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies, ODP Level 3 NVQ, or ODA 752.
A collaborative team player dedicated to sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and maintaining cohesive team objectives.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work confidently across all areas of the theatre suite.
