As the Menswear Tailoring Designer for Next Sourcing, you will be the creative heartbeat behind the suits, blazers, formal trousers, and smart separates that define NEXT's premier menswear collections. Partnering with NEXT, Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is thrilled to help talented, commercially minded designers step into this influential global role. Operating from the in-house design hub in Leicester, you will blend contemporary tailoring trends, elevated fabrications, and precise technical construction to create market-leading formalwear.
Creative Range Design: Deliver compelling, trend-setting collections across soft tailored blazers, structured suits, coats, formal trousers, and smart-casual separates.
Global Trend Research: Translate international runway movements, street style, and modern sartorial trends into commercial "must-have" ranges.
Inspirational & Sourcing Travel: Embark on seasonal research trips to global fashion capitals, as well as international mills, suppliers, and tailored garment factories to oversee sample development, fit sessions, and fabric sourcing.
Technical Excellence & Construction: Design intelligently using deep knowledge of tailored garment construction, canvas types, shoulder pads, linings, and high-performance fabric blends.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner daily with Sourcing Specialists, Garment Technologists, Buyers, and Pattern Cutters to ensure designs align with production capabilities, target margins, and rapid design cycles.
Tech-Pack Accuracy: Produce precise, fully detailed technical specification packs and CAD layouts for international manufacturing partners.
Design Background: Proven expertise in menswear (or womenswear) tailoring and formalwear design, showing exceptional attention to silhouette, proportion, and cut.
Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for realistic CAD renders and technical specification packs.
Technical & Fabric Knowledge: Solid understanding of tailored construction, pattern-making principles, and how suiting fabrics behave during wear and pressing.
Industry Experience: Experience within a high-volume retailer, established tailoring brand, or global supplier, with a firm grasp of commercial calendars and lead times.
Collaboration & Resilience: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to present concepts confidently, manage multiple seasonal drops simultaneously, and thrive under tight deadlines.
Mandatory Requirement: A digital design portfolio demonstrating a sharp eye for tailoring, commercial viability, and clean CAD work must be submitted with your application.
