In this calm and pleasurable working environment, you’ll craft daily meals for service users, staff, and visitors while playing an active role in food preparation, stock management, and peer mentorship.
Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of a busy kitchen operation.
Plan, prepare, and cook meals to a consistently high standard, taking special dietary requirements and requests into account.
Maintain strict food storage, stock rotation, and HACCP compliance (fridge/food temperature logs, cleaning schedules).
Adhere strictly to Food Hygiene Regulations and 'Safer Food Better Business' standards.
Assist with menu planning, food costing, and event/banquet catering while delivering a courteous, professional service.
Must be 18 years or older.
GCSE or equivalent in English.
City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking.
Basic Food Hygiene certification (Supervising qualification or working towards is a plus).
Proven experience preparing and producing quality food on mass to a high standard.
Solid knowledge of menu planning, costing, and kitchen safety regulations.
Thornford Park is a 141-bed hospital set within 21 acres of Berkshire countryside, featuring medium/low secure units, PICUs, and rehabilitation flats. Easily accessible via Thatcham train station (with shuttle transport available), you will be part of a recovery-focused multidisciplinary team supporting individuals with complex mental health needs, learning disabilities, and autism.
