Position: Lead Engineer (Permanent Role)
Location: The Beardwood Hospital, Blackburn

Salary: Up to £45,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training, and qualification)
Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with The Beardwood Hospital in Blackburn—part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading independent healthcare provider—to recruit a skilled Lead Engineer for their Maintenance Department.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 37.5 hours a week on a flexible shift pattern. In this key leadership role, you will deliver critical engineering maintenance and breakdown support, manage repair and maintenance budgets, drive energy reduction initiatives, and provide vital technical support across the hospital and cluster sites.
Engineering Maintenance: Deliver comprehensive engineering maintenance and breakdown support services to the hospital.
Budget Management: Manage and report on repair and maintenance (R&M) budgets, reviewing and providing commentary as needed.
Environmental & Energy Control: Spearhead initiatives focused on environmental sustainability and energy reduction.
Technical & Safety Support: Provide expert technical, health, safety, and environmental guidance to Executive Directors, local Hospital Managers, and Project/Minor Works Managers.
Strategic Collaboration: Partner with the senior leadership team to build and implement management tools ensuring facilities operate to the highest standards.
Cross-Site & Regional Liaison: Work alongside the Regional Engineering Manager and Hospital Operations Manager, cover cluster sites for on-call duties, attend regional meetings, and provide operational support for holiday, sickness, or vacancies.
Qualifications: City & Guilds Part 3, HNC, or NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Certifications: Valid CSCS card or ECS card (if electrically qualified) at the appropriate level.
Experience: Proven professional background in engineering maintenance, ideally within a hospital or similar critical services environment.
Leadership & Management: Demonstrated experience in team leadership, task delegation, and performance management.
Compliance: Comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation, risk management, fire safety, and Legionella prevention protocols.
Core Competencies: Strong fault-finding aptitude, robust organisational abilities, and excellent communication skills.
Competitive Pay: Starting salary of up to £45,000.00 per year based on experience, qualifications, and training.
