At Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency, we connect dedicated, relational professionals with career-defining roles in social care. We are delighted to partner with Bradford Children and Families Trust to recruit permanent Senior Family Support Workers for their innovative Family Help service.
Established in April 2023, the Trust has quickly driven "significant improvements" acknowledged by Ofsted, backed by a stable, permanent senior leadership team. The Family Help service is part of an exciting national reform programme (Families First) designed to strip away barriers, reduce transition points, and ensure families receive the right support from the right person at the right time. If you want to work in a culture that genuinely practices relational, restorative, and child-centered support, we want to hear from you.
This is a case-holding practitioner role (not a supervisory position) within an integrated team of Senior Family Support Workers, Social Workers, and partner agency colleagues.
You will work directly with families facing complex circumstances, completing comprehensive, strengths-based assessments and delivering targeted, intensive support to prevent challenges from escalating. By building strong, lasting relationships, you will empower families to achieve sustainable, positive change.
Key Responsibilities:
Holistic Case Management: Hold a dedicated caseload, conducting comprehensive, strengths-based assessments of need and coordinating child-centered support plans on a Child in Need (CiN) basis.
Direct Relational Work: Connect deeply with children and parents, using creative, age-appropriate, and family-friendly techniques to understand the child's lived experience.
Multi-Agency Coordination: Lead, arrange, and chair regular multi-agency meetings and reviews, keeping the family's voice at the absolute center of the planning process.
First Point of Contact: Lead advice-giving, referral, and duty processes to ensure families are directed to the right level of support immediately.
Safeguarding & Compliance: Confidently identify, assess, and respond to safeguarding concerns within statutory guidelines and legal frameworks.
Quality Documentation: Maintain detailed, analytical, and timely case records and write comprehensive assessments and reports.
We are looking for a skilled, practical, and empathetic professional who has a proven track record of working independently with complex families.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent child-related qualification) in Health & Social Care, including a strong foundation in child development.
Experience: Recent, hands-on experience as a case holder carrying out assessments, co-creating plans, and delivering direct interventions to children, young people, and parents as a unit.
Equality & Inclusion: A strong commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, actively challenging bias, prejudice, and systemic barriers in daily work.
Partnership Skills: The ability to collaborate seamlessly with professionals across the wider children's workforce to prioritize the child’s safety and wellbeing.
Bradford Children and Families Trust is built on a culture of continuous learning and staff appreciation. In this role, you will enjoy:
Generous Annual Leave: 31 days of annual leave, rising to 34 days with continuous service (plus bank holidays).
Financial Security: Competitive local government salary scale and an excellent Local Government Pension Scheme.
Work-Life Balance: Family-friendly working policies, enhanced parental and maternity/paternity leave.
Health & Wellbeing: Full access to Occupational Health services, confidential counseling, and supportive staff networks.
Career Development: Abundant training, professional development opportunities, and clear career progression pathways.
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
Bradford Children and Families Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All preferred candidates will undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (including the Children’s barred list) and will be required to disclose relevant criminal history prior to interview.
