As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will join our MEICA team based in Salford, working within the essential water and infrastructure sector. As part of Kier Design—a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor with a 750+ strong design consultancy recognized as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor—you will support complex infrastructure projects from concept to commissioning, ensuring safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.
Agree Electrical and ICA design requirements from the client remit, ensuring full understanding and challenging details where necessary.
Produce and check technical specifications, functional design specifications, control philosophies, panel schedules, and instrumentation schedules.
Specify LV electrical equipment, including MCCs, motor starters, drives, transformers, and power distribution panels.
Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections, reporting on safety issues and attending project meetings on behalf of the team.
Collaborate closely with civil, mechanical, and process engineers to ensure fully integrated and efficient asset designs.
Chartered Engineer status with membership of an appropriate Professional Body (such as IET or IMechE).
Relevant hands-on experience within the water, wastewater, or process-related industries, including familiarity with hydraulic design and pumping systems.
Strong working knowledge of all relevant Engineering Standards and SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) requirements.
Competency with cable design software (such as Amtech) and the ability to interpret P&IDs, SLDs, and loop diagrams.
Ability to pass BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) requirements and complete a Basic DBS check.
