Protect, manage, and promote the public rights of way network across Bradford’s urban and rural landscapes as an Area Rights Of Way Officer!
Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with Bradford Council to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Area Rights Of Way Officer to join the Countryside and Rights of Way team based at Britannia House.
Managing famous routes such as the Pennine Way and Dales Way, as well as vital urban and peri-urban footpaths across the district, this team plays a key role in public access, conservation, and leisure.
As Area Rights Of Way Officer, you will oversee rights of way management within designated urban and rural areas of the district. Key responsibilities include:
Network Management & Programmes: Contributing to service targets for the definitive map, enforcement, and public path order programmes.
Legislation & Planning: Implementing elements of the Highway Act 1980, the Town and Country Planning Act, and the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000, including responding to planning applications.
Conflict Resolution & Liaison: Resolving disputes between path users and landowners, researching route status, and liaising effectively with landowners, interest groups, developers, and council colleagues.
Fieldwork: Conducting site visits and working across the district, sometimes in remote rural locations.
We are looking for a dedicated rights of way professional who brings:
Experience and enthusiasm for protecting and promoting the rights of way network.
A working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Strong conflict-resolution, research, and record-keeping skills.
Excellent computer literacy alongside strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ideally, the successful candidate will be a member of the Institute of Public Rights of Way Officers (IPROW).
