About the Opportunity
Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with BAE Systems—a global leader in defence, aerospace, and security—to source an aspiring and driven Undergraduate Air Procurement professional for a 12-month industrial placement in Lancashire.
As part of the world-renowned Air Team, you will support the delivery of procurement activities that enable the business to achieve its objectives while developing your commercial and supply chain expertise. This placement offers an exceptional hands-on platform to gain valuable experience in supplier relationship management, market research, and strategic sourcing across world-leading aerospace programs like the Typhoon, F-35, and Tempest.
Role Overview
Working within a collaborative environment, you will contribute to procurement projects and develop an understanding of how effective procurement supports business performance, operational success, and value creation across the organization. You will assist with vendor management, purchase order processing, spend data analysis, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
Supplier Relationship Management: Support the management of supplier relationships by maintaining regular communication, monitoring performance, helping resolve supply or service issues, and proactively managing risks.
Purchasing & Records: Conduct the timely placement of purchase orders, process procurement requests, and maintain accurate purchasing records in line with company policies and financial controls.
Market Analysis & Sourcing: Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify potential vendors, compare costs, assess risks, and support sourcing activities that deliver value for money.
Negotiations & Costing: Assist with supplier negotiations by gathering data, preparing cost analyses, supporting contract activities, and updating enterprise systems for data accuracy.
Spend Data & Reporting: Track supplier performance, analyze procurement and spend data, identify efficiency and cost-reduction opportunities, and produce stakeholder reports and presentations.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver a high standard of service.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Academic Background: Must be on track to obtain a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level. (Note: All degree subjects are considered for this placement!)
Working Arrangement: On-site presence in Warton or Samlesbury 3 to 5 days per week under hybrid working guidelines.
Security Clearance: All applicants must achieve, as a minimum, the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Note: Due to security and export control restrictions, candidates must meet national identity, birthplace, and residency criteria (typically requiring continuous UK residency of 5 to 10 years for higher-level national security vetting).
