About the Role

As a Personal Advisor, you are the ultimate guide, mentor, and advocate for young people transitioning from care to independent adult life. You will support care leavers to navigate real-world challenges, helping them map out their ambitions and develop the everyday skills needed to build a stable, happy future.

Your day-to-day work will focus on creating collaborative "Pathway Plans" that outline each young person's rights, entitlements, and personal goals, supporting them every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities:

Holistic Coaching & Support: Provide practical, personal, and emotional support to meet assessed needs. This includes assisting with domestic tasks, budgeting, and transporting young people when necessary.
Skill Building: Guide care leavers in developing life skills, such as managing a home, food shopping, budgeting, and understanding their rights and benefits.
Future Planning: Help young people map out their education, training, and employment options, ensuring they access physical, emotional, and social healthcare services.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Partner with professionals across children’s and adults' organizations to create seamless support networks.
Assessments & Recording: Regularly assess and review young people's evolving needs, keeping positive, young-person-centered case records and authoring pathway reviews.

What You Will Need to Succeed

We are looking for resourceful, empathetic, and highly organized individuals who can connect with adolescents and build solid, trusting relationships.

Education: G.C.S.E (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English at Grade C (or Grade 4) and above.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with children, young people, and families.
- An NVQ Level 4 in Childcare, Youth Work, or a related field (OR considerable work-based experience in a similar field with a commitment to completing the Level 4 qualification within your first 12 months in the role).
- Valuable background experience in fields such as homelessness, youth justice, residential care, or adult services is highly desirable.
Skills & Knowledge: A strong understanding of adolescent development, leaving care legislation, and care-experienced young people's statutory rights and entitlements.
Requirements:
- Strong administrative and IT skills.
- A full driving license and access to a car with business insurance (unless a disability prevents this).
- An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
