About the Role
In this critical role, you will support the safety assessment and certification of complex aerospace systems across the full engineering lifecycle. Working within a collaborative core team, you will evaluate aircraft and system design safety, produce and review vital safety artifacts, and ensure strict compliance with airworthiness and regulatory requirements. You will also have the unique opportunity to help shape emerging industry standards in cutting-edge areas such as digital certification, AI, autonomy, sustainability, and product security.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Establish and deliver engineering activities utilizing systems integration and systems engineering techniques.
Sustain the initial integrity of Air products through rigorous review of design, certification, and assurance evidence.
Challenge existing processes and promote efficiency while ensuring continuous delivery and compliance with market legislation.
Validate supplier documentation, perform audits and phase review assessments, and manage residual risks through to closure.
Conduct root-cause investigations, write technical instructions, and advise on potential design changes to recover product integrity.
What We Are Looking For (Essential Skills & Qualifications):
Academic & Professional Background: A degree in a STEM discipline coupled with proven relevant experience in a Safety Engineering role across the product lifecycle.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of requirements engineering, configuration control, and safety tools (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis, Goal Structured Notation).
Industry Standards & Frameworks: Working knowledge of safety standards (such as Def-Stan 00-56 and IEC61508) and regulatory frameworks (e.g., EASA, EMAR, UK MRP, DAOS/MAOS/CFAOS approvals).
Safety-Critical Experience: Demonstrable background supporting qualification and certification activities within safety-critical industries.
Security Note: Due to defense and export control restrictions, all applicants must achieve at least a Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Higher levels of National Security Vetting may apply where required.
