About the Role

In this influential role, you will establish the SSNA programme requirements for the Prototyping Platform Complex Systems (PCS) IV&V capability. Collaborating with key stakeholders and implementing lessons learned from other submarine programmes, you will oversee the procurement, development, and integration of plant models, hosted functionality models, and system prototypes to drive successful design verification and validation.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead the Platform Complex Systems IV&V Prototype Project, defining and establishing IV&V requirements with internal and external stakeholders.

• Identify the necessary capabilities, toolsets, and methods required to deliver robust prototyping for Platform Complex Systems.

• Manage the procurement and implementation of individual IV&V toolsets and rig capabilities for Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.

• Establish formal methodologies for conducting IV&V on prototypes and producing verifiable compliance evidence.

• Execute prototype make/buy decisions and oversee the development and integration of complex plant models.

What We Are Looking For (Essential Skills & Qualifications):

• Educational Background: Hold a BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent practical experience in an engineering discipline or Systems Engineering.

• Functional Modelling Expertise: Proven knowledge and expertise in functional modelling toolsets that contribute to a prototyping environment (e.g., MATLAB Simulink).

• IV&V Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of Systems Engineering IV&V processes and practices within defence, maritime, or closely linked high-reliability industries.

• Lifecycle Understanding: Demonstrated grasp of the full engineering lifecycle, spanning requirements development, verification, integration, and validation.

Security Note: Due to defense and export control restrictions, all applicants must achieve at least a Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Higher levels of National Security Vetting may apply where required.
