Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with BAE Systems—a global leader in defence, aerospace, and security—to source an innovative and driven Graduate Air Software Engineer for a permanent career opportunity in Lancashire.
As part of the world-renowned Air Team, you will create cutting-edge software for advanced platforms, engaging in the entire product lifecycle from concept, design, and development through to delivery and maintenance in service. This permanent position offers an extraordinary platform to develop safety-critical, mission-critical, and ground-based software solutions for world-leading aircraft programs like the Typhoon, F-35, and Tempest.
Role Overview
Working on complex, real-time systems and software platforms, you will be trusted to play an active role in software development, architecture review, and comprehensive testing. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers to deliver robust software solutions that meet strict safety, quality, and certification standards.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
Requirements & Design: Complete system requirements evaluation and review, including high-level and low-level software design.
Software Implementation: Update existing code, develop new code, and merge updates seamlessly into new baselines.
Unit & Integration Testing: Conduct rigorous software unit and integration testing (white-box testing).
Qualification Testing: Execute hardware/software qualification testing (black-box testing).
Certification & Documentation: Support software certification through thorough documentation, defect investigation, and prompt resolution.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Academic Background: Must have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, at least a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree (or a pass at Master's level) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Software Development, Electronic Engineering, or a related subject.
Working Arrangement: On-site presence in Warton or Samlesbury 3 to 4 days per week under hybrid working guidelines.
Security Clearance: All applicants must achieve, as a minimum, the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Note: Due to security and export control restrictions, candidates must meet national identity, birthplace, and residency criteria (typically requiring continuous UK residency of 5 to 10 years for higher-level national security vetting).
