We are proud to partner with BAE Systems to source an experienced Mission Systems Engineer – Product Safety to join the Mission Systems Delivery Team (MSDT) in Warton.
About the Role
Working on the next-generation Future Combat Air System (FCAS) Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), you will be responsible for generating and reviewing safety engineering artifacts to support the aircraft safety team and flight systems domains. Collaborating across multi-functional engineering teams, you will perform detailed safety assessments for novel design implementations and participate in international safety working groups.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform detailed safety assessment work in accordance with defined GCAP safety procedures across all levels of system design.
Generate and review detailed Fault Tree Analyses (FTA) and System Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA).
Provide expert guidance on the implementation of safety requirements, objectives, and hardware/software safety standards.
Review safety-related artifacts and attend multi-national safety working group meetings across all phases of design.
What We Are Looking For (Essential Skills & Qualifications):
Educational Background: A degree or equivalent practical experience in a STEM-related discipline.
Safety Engineering Experience: Proven background performing hazard analysis and/or risk safety assessments within complex environments.
Technical Understanding: Familiarity with the software development environment and design principles associated with complex electronic hardware.
Desirable Knowledge: A general understanding of aerospace standards such as ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-254, and DO-178 would be highly advantageous.
Security Note: Due to defense and export control restrictions, all applicants must achieve at least a Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Higher levels of National Security Vetting may apply where required.
