About the Role
We are acting on behalf of Partnering Health Ltd (PHL Group)—an established, values-driven healthcare provider founded by clinicians—to recruit an experienced and compassionate Clinical Lead - SARC for the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) in Bournemouth.
In this senior Medical Lead role, you will provide critical clinical oversight, governance, and professional leadership across SARC services. You will ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, trauma-informed forensic healthcare for adults, children, and young people who have experienced sexual assault, while helping shape service development, workforce training, and clinical excellence in partnership with police and healthcare commissioners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Leadership & Governance
Provide clinical leadership, professional supervision, and mentorship to Sexual Offence Examiners (SOEs) and doctors, including delivering induction, training, competency assessments, and peer reviews.
Ensure full compliance with national standards, forensic regulations, UKAS accreditation requirements, and best-practice clinical guidelines.
Lead on clinical audits, incident investigations, safeguarding processes, and the continuous review and development of clinical policies.
2. Clinical Examinations & Multi-Agency Liaison
Undertake comprehensive forensic examinations and medical aftercare for adult and paediatric victims of sexual assault in line with national guidance.
Complete timely police witness statements, child protection reports, and safeguarding referrals, attending court as an expert or professional witness when required.
Collaborate closely with crisis support workers, police officers, NHS partners, and local safeguarding agencies to coordinate seamless, trauma-informed patient pathways.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Registration: Full GMC registration with a licence to practise; hold or be working towards MFFLM/LFFLM, Sexual Offence Medicine (Adults & Children / Children) qualifications.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of practical experience as a Sexual Offence Examiner (SOE) with proven expertise in forensic examinations, medical aftercare, clinical governance, and safeguarding.
Competencies: Strong leadership, teaching, communication, and documentation skills; professional, non-judgemental, and compassionate approach to vulnerable individuals.
Requirements: Enhanced DBS clearance, minimum £10 million medical indemnity cover, Level 3 safeguarding experience (adults and/or children), full UK driving licence, and access to own transport.
Desirable Criteria
Paediatric Sexual Offence Medicine (SOM) experience or membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH); root cause analysis or educational supervision training.
