About the Role
As the Statutory Financial Controller, you will take total ownership of the Group's financial reporting accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery. You will oversee statutory accounts, manage financial controls, direct the month-end close process, and lead a dedicated team of five direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
Statutory Reporting & Audits: Own the year-end statutory accounts process and act as the main point of contact for external auditors to ensure accurate, timely completion.
Month-End & Financial Controls: Lead the month-end process, ensuring robust controls, transparent reporting, and deep variance analysis.
Weekly Reporting & Cash Flow: Oversee weekly financial performance reports and take charge of the rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
Capital & Investment: Review investment proposals, challenge business cases, and track capital spend against budgets, alongside managing fixed asset procedures.
Taxation & Compliance: Oversee key corporate tax, VAT, R&D tax claims, and other regulatory reporting obligations.
Budgeting Support: Provide key financial insights and challenges for annual budgets and six-month reforecasts.
Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop five direct reports to build a high-performing finance function.
Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement system, control, and reporting automations.
Skills & Experience Required
Qualified Accountant: Holder of an ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification.
Technical Expertise: Strong background in statutory reporting, month-end closes, and external audit management under rigorous technical accounting standards.
Leadership Experience: Proven track record of managing, coaching, and developing a finance team.
Analytical Mindset: Excellent capability in investigating data trends, financial variances, and operational performance.
Systems Proficiency: Advanced Excel and financial systems skills with a passion for process automation and efficiency.
Industry Background: Experience gained within a fast-paced manufacturing, FMCG, food, or operational environment.
Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to bridge communication between finance and non-finance teams.
