Based at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital within the University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, this permanent full-time position (37.5 hours per week) offers a fantastic opportunity for career progression in emergency nursing in Liverpool, UK.
In this clinical leadership role, you will deliver advanced emergency care, manage acute patient streaming, execute rapid triage, and oversee patient care delivery in a high-volume A&E setting. Working alongside a dedicated departmental education team, you will participate in rotational shifts across acute sites, supervise junior nursing staff, ensure clinical governance standards, and work towards RCN emergency competencies.
Role Description
As a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will manage rapid triage and streaming, deliver expert clinical interventions to acute patients, provide clinical leadership, and mentor nursing staff within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform rapid, accurate patient triage and stream individuals efficiently to appropriate urgent and emergency care pathways.
Provide expert clinical care, manage emergency interventions, and coordinate continuous care for patients presenting with complex acute medical and traumatic conditions.
Lead shift activities, supervise junior nurses and care staff, enforce strict clinical governance protocols, and participate in rotational deployment across divisional emergency sites.
Requirements
Active registration as a First Level Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration.
Essential post-registration experience as a Band 5 nurse within an Emergency Department setting.
Completion of ENB 199 (Accident & Emergency Nursing) and ENB 998 (Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice) or equivalent; Advanced Life Support (ALS/ATNC/TNCC) is desirable.
