As a Senior Technician within the Hard FM team at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering critical maintenance services within a busy, safety-critical healthcare environment.
Reporting directly to the Site Engineer, you will supervise a multi-skilled maintenance workforce, overseeing reactive and planned maintenance, minor works, and hospital infrastructure projects. Team Supervision: Lead and supervise multi-skilled maintenance teams and external contractors.
Maintenance Delivery: Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repair works across the hospital estate.
Systems Integrity: Support the safe, continuous operation of critical electrical and mechanical systems.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure rigorous compliance with health, safety, statutory obligations, and safe systems of work.
Project Support: Assist with the delivery of ongoing hospital improvement and refurbishment projects.
On-Call Participation: Take part in the management on-call rota (typically one week in six) to support emergency and critical hospital operations.
We are looking for a qualified engineering professional with strong leadership qualities, sound problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to high safety standards.
Technical Qualification: An HNC/HND, completed apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent engineering qualification.
Core Experience: Proven practical experience in mechanical, electrical, or building services maintenance.
Leadership Background: Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a technical environment.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of health, safety, and safe systems of work.
Transferable Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and prioritization skills. While healthcare facilities experience is advantageous, candidates with strong transferable engineering and leadership backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
Financial Package: Competitive starting salary of £43,000 - £50,000 per annum, plus an additional £2,790 on-call allowance.
