Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with BAE Systems—a global leader in defence, aerospace, and security—to source an aspiring and driven Undergraduate Air Commercial professional for a 12-month industrial placement in Lancashire.
As part of the world-renowned Air Team, you will help manage and develop constructive, long-lasting relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners. This placement offers an extraordinary hands-on platform to bridge your academic studies with real-world commercial and estimating expertise across world-leading aerospace programs like the Typhoon, F-35, and Tempest.
Role Overview
The Commercial function at BAE Systems spans two core disciplines: Contracts and Estimating. In Contracts, you will support commercial policies, effective contract management, and the development of customer bids and proposals. In Estimating, you will produce and collate cost estimates to support bid pricing and contract execution.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
Commercial Bids & Proposals: Prepare and draft commercial bids and proposals for internal and external review.
Negotiations & Audits: Support contract and price negotiations, customer audits, fact-finds, and contract closure with key customers.
Management Reporting: Assist with administration and the preparation of data to support Senior Management Reviews.
Governance & Compliance: Maintain an awareness of governance processes and best commercial practices.
Contract Interpretation: Interpret contract requirements, including terms and conditions.
Estimate Validation: Validate or challenge functional estimate returns through independent views to drive affordable, profitable solutions and deploy cost estimates to work area budgets.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Academic Background: Must be on track to obtain a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level. (Note: All degree subjects are considered for this placement!)
Working Arrangement: On-site presence in Samlesbury or Warton 3 to 5 days per week under hybrid working guidelines.
Security Clearance: All applicants must achieve, as a minimum, the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Note: Due to security and export control restrictions, candidates must meet national identity, birthplace, and residency criteria (typically requiring continuous UK residency of 5 to 10 years for higher-level national security vetting).
