We are currently recruiting on behalf of Medequip Assistive Technology Ltd—the UK’s leading provider of community equipment services to the NHS and local authorities—as they seek a reliable Community Equipment Technician for their Doncaster depot.
About the Role
As a Community Equipment Technician, you will be the vital link between the depot and service users, ensuring the right equipment is delivered, installed, and demonstrated safely and compassionately in people's homes, hospitals, and health centres.
This is a hands-on, highly rewarding driving and technical role where your empathy, professionalism, and practical skills will help vulnerable and elderly individuals maintain their independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive and navigate large commercial vans safely, completing mandatory daily/weekly vehicle checks and maintaining vehicle cleanliness.
Deliver, collect, and install disability equipment (including beds and heavy items) in compliance with safety standards and timeslots.
Provide a polite, reassuring, and professional service, communicating sensitively with vulnerable, distressed, or bereaved service users.
Demonstrate the correct functionality and safe use of equipment to service users.
Inspect equipment for damage, identifying items that require repair or replacement.
Conduct dynamic risk assessments and immediately report any safeguarding concerns to your line manager.
Use handheld scanners and electronic devices to update job notes and track deliveries.
Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours cover when required.
About You
You are a dependable, safety-conscious individual who shares Medequip’s core values of integrity, empathy, teamwork, and excellence.
Essential Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a public, healthcare, or service-based role.
Full UK driving licence held for at least 3 years, with no more than 3 penalty points and a demonstrably safe driving record.
Minimum age of 21 years (for insurance purposes) and ability to successfully pass a driving assessment.
Physically capable of regular manual handling and heavy lifting, equipped with practical DIY skills.
Excellent communication skills, IT literacy, and a calm, positive attitude under pressure.
Flexibility regarding working hours and participation in a 24/7 on-call rota.
Right to Work: Candidates must have the full, satisfactory right to work in the UK (this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship).
