About the Role
As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you will join the Building Services team within Kier Design—a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor with a 750+ strong design consultancy team recognized as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor. Based in Liverpool or London, you will oversee complex building services engineering, collaborating to deliver sustainable, compliant, and cost-effective design solutions from concept through to construction on high-value projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the management of all works delivered through the Electrical team, ensuring fully coordinated solutions alongside the Major Projects Mechanical Lead.
Manage team utilization levels, quality output, and professional development, maintaining standards aligned with industry practices.
Prepare comprehensive designs, feasibility studies, stage reports, and condition reports while liaising across internal Kier teams.
Play an active role in business development, supporting bid submissions, attending client meetings, and driving new business opportunities.
Direct teams to provide high-quality multi-disciplinary designs and specifications that meet client requirements on time and within budget.
What We Are Looking For
Chartered Engineer status and active membership of CIBSE or IET, supported by a Degree in Electrical Building Services or Electrical Engineering.
Proven track record of managing and driving multi-discipline technical teams to achieve sustainable performance against challenging business targets.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for a wider business audience.
Strong familiarity with the application of quality procedures and document control in engineering design.
Ability to pass BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) and complete a Basic DBS check.
