Salary: £25,875 to £33,120 per annum

Working Pattern: Full-time (4 long days per week, Monday to Thursday, with regular travel between regional sites)

We are acting on behalf of Optegra UK Ltd—recognized by the Sunday Times as one of the Best Big Places to Work—to recruit an experienced Regional Healthcare Technician / Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join their dedicated regional team.
In this dynamic, travel-inclusive role, you will provide comprehensive patient care across clinical and non-clinical pathways in four regional hospitals. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and optometrists, you will support outpatient consultations, diagnostic testing, pre- and post-operative care, and theatre operations to ensure an exceptional standard of ophthalmic care.
1. Clinical Care & Patient Support
Deliver high-quality patient care and support throughout the patient journey, demonstrating empathy, sensitivity, and a person-centred approach.
Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including Biometry, OCT, A-Scan, Visual Fields, Pentacam, VA, IOP, and Topography.
Assist on surgery days by providing pre- and post-operative care, clear communication, and basic health promotion advice.
Provide skilled assistance within the operating theatre supporting the entire surgical pathway.
2. Safety & Environmental Control
Support infection prevention and control (IPC) by adhering strictly to uniform policies, maintaining clean environments, and following equipment decontamination and sterilization protocols.
Accurately document and report any incidents, accidents, or quality concerns in line with hospital governance policies.
Essential Criteria
Experience: Proven experience working within a healthcare environment or ophthalmic sector, with ward or theatre experience.
Competencies: Highly organized with strong forward planning skills, ability to work well under pressure, excellent attention to detail, and current Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
Travel: Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly across regional hospital sites in Birmingham, Uttoxeter, Nottingham, and Leicester.
Desirable Criteria
NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent healthcare qualification.
