Position: Medical Secretary (Bank Role)

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guildford—part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading independent healthcare provider—to recruit a flexible Medical Secretary for their Medical Secretaries department.
This is a bank role operating on an "as and when required" basis, offering you complete schedule flexibility to support staffing levels during peak periods or provide essential cover for staff annual leave and absences. In this role, you will deliver high-level secretarial and administrative support directly to consultants, ensuring seamless patient communication and efficient clinic operations.
Consultant Support: Provide dedicated secretarial assistance to one or more consultants, handling comprehensive diary management, clinic preparation, and clinical correspondence transcription.
Audio Transcription: Type letters, reports, and detailed medical documentation accurately from audio dictation or handwritten notes.
Patient Coordination: Liaise directly with patients to confirm appointments, diagnostic investigations, admissions, and follow-up care arrangements.
Diary & Schedule Management: Coordinate outpatient clinics, theatre lists, and professional meetings within consultants' diaries.
Records & Billing: Maintain accurate patient files, upload correspondence to electronic or paper health records, and process consultant invoices/billing in collaboration with finance teams.
Experience: Proven professional background in a medical secretarial or administrative role within a healthcare environment.
Core Skills: Excellent typing and audio transcription capabilities, deep knowledge of medical terminology, and correct clinical formatting standards.
Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, maintaining a professional and patient-centred approach at all times.
Technical Proficiency: High level of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and hospital IT/dictation platforms (e.g., PAS, EPR).
Working Style: Proven ability to manage competing priorities effectively within a fast-paced clinical setting.
