At Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency, we are proud to align dedicated social care professionals with progressive services that put relational values at the forefront of their practice. We are currently partnering with Bradford Children and Families Trust to recruit permanent Family Help Social Workers (Level 2 & Level 3) for their pioneering Family Help service.
Operating under the national Families First Programme, Bradford’s Family Help model is designed to break down bureaucratic barriers. By integrating Social Workers, Senior Family Support Workers, and external partners into unified locality teams, the Trust ensures families receive high-quality, targeted support from the right person at the right time—without unnecessary handovers. With a permanent senior leadership team and Ofsted-recognized "significant improvements" achieved since April 2023, there has never been a better time to join this restorative, forward-thinking trust.
In this role, you will work directly with families facing complex circumstances to deliver targeted, intensive support on a Child in Need (CiN) basis.
As a Family Help Social Worker, you will hold a caseload, develop strengths-based intervention plans, and build deep, trusting relationships with children and their parents. Additionally, you will play a crucial consultative role within your integrated team, helping to guide family support colleagues when case complexity or risk levels escalate.
Key Responsibilities:
Holistic Assessment: Work alongside families to co-produce comprehensive, analytical, and strengths-based assessments of need.
Direct Relational Practice: Utilize creative, child-friendly approaches to build trust, engage children directly, and capture their lived experiences.
Team Consultation: Act as a point of clinical consultation, offering expert advice and guidance to family support colleagues as needs escalate.
Multi-Agency Leadership: Coordinate, arrange, and chair regular multi-agency meetings, keeping the child’s voice and the family’s goals at the center of the plan.
Duty & Triage: Lead advice-giving, referral, and initial duty processes to ensure families get immediate support when they first reach out.
Safeguarding & Compliance: Confidently identify, assess, and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with local and statutory procedures.
Reflective Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, timely case records and write high-quality, analytical reports.
We are looking for dedicated, case-holding practitioners who believe in early, intensive intervention and working with the family as a unit.
Qualifications:
A degree in Social Work (CQSW, DipSW, BA/MA Social Work, or equivalent).
Active registration with Social Work England.
A full driving license and access to a car for daily work travel.
Experience:
Recent experience as a statutory case holder in children’s services.
Proven expert knowledge in managing risk, completing complex assessments, and delivering positive outcomes for children.
Experience working with diverse service user groups, actively practicing anti-discriminatory social work to challenge bias and systemic barriers.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build deep relationships with children, families, and partner agencies.
Ability to analyze complex situations under pressure and write high-quality reports.
Bradford Children and Families Trust is a National Living Wage employer that values work-life balance and the personal growth of its staff:
Financial Benefits: A £3,000 annual retention payment, split and paid in 12 monthly instalments.
Generous Annual Leave: 31 days of annual leave, rising to 34 days with continuous service (plus bank holidays).
Pension Scheme: Excellent Local Government Pension Scheme.
Work-Life Balance: Family-friendly working policies, enhanced parental leave, and hybrid working options.
Wellbeing Support: Full access to Occupational Health services, confidential counselling, and active staff networks.
Professional Growth: Excellent clinical supervision, continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities, and a clear career progression pathway.
