Position: Single / Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical or Mechanical Bias)
Location: Shobdon Hatchery, Herefordshire
Salary: £16.83 – £18.69 per hour + £0.92 per hour shift premium for unsocial hours (17:00 – 08:00)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Rotating shift pattern (Week 1 & 2: Monday to Friday 05:30–13:30 or 09:30–17:30, plus rotational weekend shifts)

We are proud to partner with our client as a supportive staffing agency to recruit a competent and motivated Single or Multi-Skilled Engineer for their established hatchery operations in Shobdon. Please note: This is a fast-paced, factory-based role within a dynamic hatchery environment where hygiene and biosecurity standards are critical.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs across plant equipment, machinery, and incubators.
Fault Finding & Problem Solving: Respond quickly to breakdowns, identify root causes, and minimize plant downtime through efficient corrective actions.
Compliance & Calibration: Complete regular process weigher and liquid meter calibrations, maintain audit compliance, and ensure all work adheres to strict Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Projects & Collaboration: Participate in mechanical and electrical improvement projects (such as conveyors and installations) while working closely with operational teams.

What We Are Looking For
Qualifications & Experience: A time-served apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline (single or multi-skilled). IEE 17th/18th Edition and pneumatics experience are desirable.
Skills: Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to Health & Safety.
Attitude: A flexible approach, self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively within a small, collaborative team (food manufacturing experience is a plus!).
