Join the team at Thornford Park in Thatcham to help build an engaging, activity-based culture. Using your technical and creative skills, you will develop, deliver, and coordinate social, recreational, and leisure programs tailored to the individual needs and interests of the service users.

What You Will Be Doing

• Coordinate engaging social and recreational activities for service users within a secure environment who cannot freely access public services.

• Build strong 1-to-1 and group relationships with service users to increase engagement and tailor activities to their goals.

• Observe general behavior, ability, and responses, providing regular verbal and written feedback to the multidisciplinary team.

• Document observations and progress accurately in clinical notes under supervision.

• Conduct day-to-day basic risk assessments and ensure all health, safety, welfare, and security standards are strictly met.

• Build links with community-based resources to support local activity engagement where appropriate.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Basic group work skills with strong organizational capabilities.

• A solution-focused approach to problem-solving with high initiative and motivation.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

• Awareness of mental health, cultural requirements, and gender-specific needs.

• Essential: A full UK Driving License.

• Desirable: Minimum of 12 months experience working within a mental health setting.

Thornford Park is a 141-bed hospital set within 21 acres of Berkshire countryside, offering a seamless care pathway across medium and low secure services, psychiatric intensive care units (PICUs), and rehabilitation flats. The site supports individuals with complex mental health needs, personality disorders, learning disabilities, and autism.
