Location: Ashley Park Care Home, The Street, Guildford, GU4 7SU (CQC Rating: Good | Carehome.co.uk: 9.8 | Food Hygiene: 5*)
Salary: £14.09 - £15.59 per hour (Depending on experience)
Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time (30 hours per week)

We are partnering with Ashley Park (part of Bupa) to find an enthusiastic Assistant Chef / Second Chef for a permanent, part-time role. In this vital kitchen leadership position, you will work closely with the Chef Manager to prepare high-quality meals, cater for individual dietary needs, and bring joy and comfort to our vibrant community of 30 residents through exceptional food.
What You’ll Be Doing
Preparing and cooking high-quality, nutritious meals using fresh ingredients, creating varied menus that cater to individual preferences and dietary requirements.
Working closely with and reporting directly to the Chef Manager to support the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Helping to lead, train, and motivate kitchen team members in food preparation, cooking, and service standards.
Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in line with HACCP, COSHH, and company procedures, alongside assisting with stock control and ordering.
Supporting special events, birthday parties, seasonal activities, and themed dining experiences.
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience working in a fresh food kitchen environment.
Relevant food hygiene qualifications/certificates and a solid understanding of food safety standards.
Strong organizational and communication skills with a positive, flexible approach and a willingness to bring fresh ideas to the kitchen.
A genuine passion for cooking and enhancing residents' wellbeing through great food and meaningful, warm interactions.
