About the Role

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with Ross Hall Hospital—part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading independent healthcare provider—to recruit a flexible Healthcare Assistant for their staff team.

This is a bank role operating on an "as and when required" basis, giving you the flexibility to supplement staffing levels during busy periods or provide essential cover during staff absences and annual leave. In this role, you will work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and administrative teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs while strictly respecting their dignity and preferences.

• Nutritional Support: Help patients with eating and drinking, accurately documenting nutritional intake where appropriate.

• Emotional Support: Provide comfort and reassurance to patients and their relatives, fostering a caring, safe, and welcoming environment.

• Clinical Observations: Carry out and accurately record routine clinical observations, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).

• Clinical Assistance: Support basic clinical procedures such as wound care setup, catheter care, pressure area prevention, and the use of mobility aids.

• Ward Maintenance: Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including beds, trolleys, and equipment, in readiness for patient use.

• Collaborative Working: Partner with the wider multi-disciplinary team to support safe and efficient patient journeys.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: Previous experience in a care or health support role (gained in a hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary setting).

• Attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuinely caring and compassionate attitude.

• Competencies: Ability to follow instructions carefully and escalate concerns appropriately; basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.

• Physical Capability: Physically able to undertake daily care duties, including moving and handling tasks.

• Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) is desirable.

• Specialist Skills: Phlebotomy experience would be highly desirable.

• Knowledge: Sound understanding of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
