The Opportunity

We are looking for a senior Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer to join a large-scale technology integration programme following a major acquisition.

This is a senior, hands-on contract role where you will act as the go-to AVD Subject Matter Expert, working across Azure infrastructure, identity, security, and modern end-user computing to drive seamless migration and integration outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, and support enterprise-grade Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.

• Manage Host Pools, Application Groups, Workspaces, Session Hosts, and automated Scaling Plans.

• Design and implement underlying Azure infrastructure aligned to approved architectural standards.

• Create, optimize, and automate golden images and image deployment workflows.

• Implement and manage FSLogix Profiles and App Masking configurations.

• Administer Microsoft Entra ID, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and Identity Governance under Zero Trust principles.

• Develop robust PowerShell automation scripts and support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives.

• Troubleshoot complex technical roadblocks and execute root cause analysis.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong, hands-on commercial experience designing and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) solutions.

• Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure, networking, and security.

• Proven expertise with FSLogix Profiles, App Masking, and golden image management.

• Strong administration background across Microsoft Entra ID, PIM, and RBAC implementation.

• Excellent PowerShell scripting capabilities.

• Desirable: Familiarity with Zscaler / ZTA, MSIX packaging, Azure Image Builder, and previous experience delivering M&A integration programmes within regulated or critical infrastructure sectors.
