Hours: 37.5 hours per week (5 days over 7 including weekends)
Salary: £25,272.00 pro rata, plus supportive benefits
Responsible for providing a high-quality cleaning, catering, and general support service to the ward-based team, ensuring a pleasant, homely, and safe environment for our patients.
Clean and maintain the work area in line with work schedules and in an efficient manner, ensuring a safe environment for all.
Follow ‘best practice’ procedures associated with cleaning and the control of infection.
Ensure all cleaning equipment is used correctly, checked for faults before use, and then cleaned and stored away properly.
Set tables and correctly serve patients with three main meals per day, in addition to any drinks or snacks required.
Take the temperature of meals before serving.
Ensure good communication (listening, talking, reading) with patients, visitors, staff, and colleagues in the unit.
Undertake other duties as required, following appropriate training.
Co-operate fully in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, taking reasonable care of your own safety and that of others (including patients, staff, and visitors).
Comply with all measures taken to protect Health, Safety, Welfare, and Sustainability.
Follow fire safety procedures and directions from the ward-based team.
Good standard of general education.
Good reading and writing ability, alongside strong numeracy skills.
Experience in a customer-focused environment.
Good common sense and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
A clear understanding of maintaining a clean environment.
Able to communicate clearly with others; sensitive, understanding, and compassionate.
Able to use your own initiative, remain receptive to change, and stay calm under pressure.
Reliable, confident, flexible, and caring.
Able to work well as part of a skilled team.
Desirable but not essential:
NVQ Level 1 or 2 in cleaning building interiors.
Basic Health and Safety certificate.
Basic Food Hygiene certificate.
Awareness of cleaning procedures and food hygiene.
Previous experience working in a hospital environment.
Good life experience.
