In this vital role, you will help families say the perfect goodbye to their loved ones. You'll collect the deceased from a range of locations in a professional and empathetic manner, bear coffins on the day of the funeral, drive funeral vehicles, and assist in the care and preparation of the deceased.
Working Pattern: Part-time, 18.75 to 30 hours per week. Varied shifts, Monday to Sunday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM. As part of this role, you will also participate in an on-call rota (Monday to Sunday, 1 week in 8).
Essential Requirement: You will need a full manual UK driver’s licence.
Important Note: All positions within Funeralcare can involve direct physical contact with the deceased as part of normal duties (including preparation, transportation, and personal care). Please carefully consider your comfort levels with these responsibilities before applying. No prior experience is necessary—full training and ongoing support are provided!
Deceased Care & Collection: Collect the deceased from various locations professionally and empathetically, and prepare them in our care for viewings and the funeral.
Funeral Duties: Bear coffins on the day of the funeral, drive funeral vehicles, and safely lift, carry, and move coffins using proper techniques and handling aids.
Branch Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness of equipment, facilities, and vehicles, and prepare coffins while engraving name plates.
Administration & Compliance: Maintain client management applications daily, inputting accurate and timely information while adhering strictly to regulatory policies and health and safety standards.
Driving Licence: A full UK manual driving licence.
Empathy & Compassion: The ability to react calmly and compassionately in emotional circumstances, with a sensitive and empathetic approach to customer service.
Physical Ability: The ability to perform the physical aspects of the role, such as manual lifting (appropriate training and equipment are provided).
IT & Attention to Detail: Good IT skills with confidence using technology devices (computers, tablets, smartphones) and strong attention to detail.
