Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with BAE Systems—a global leader in defence, aerospace, and security—to source a skilled and experienced Mechanical Manufacturing Technician for a permanent career opportunity at their top-tier manufacturing site in Radway Green.
As a Case and Bullets Technician, you will operate within a recently rebuilt facility featuring state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. This permanent position offers an extraordinary platform to ensure the efficient manufacture of small arms ammunition while enjoying excellent career progression opportunities and full training to develop your skills within the business.
Working on a rotating 3-shift pattern, you will be responsible for operating, setting, preventative maintenance, reactive repair, and maintaining the safe condition of production plant and equipment. You will ensure safety and quality standards are strictly met while driving continuous improvement and supporting the development of apprentices.
Safe Operations: Ensure processes are maintained and operated safely, escalating safety issues immediately within the production area and adhering to dynamic risk assessments for non-standard tasks.
Plant Operation: Operate manufacturing processes and facilities to meet Master Manufacturing Schedule (MMS), efficiency, utilisation, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets.
Maintenance & Repair: Handle setting, preventative maintenance, reactive repair, and upkeep of production plant and equipment for small arms ammunition manufacturing.
Quality & Continuous Improvement: Ensure work adheres to quality standards, support quality improvement projects, and raise/implement solutions to production problems.
Mentorship: Provide motivation and support to apprentices to help build and sustain long-term team capability.
Apprenticeship / Training: Completed a time-served apprenticeship in an engineering function (with experience in a metal forming or turning environment).
Mechanical Experience: Proven experience working within a mechanical manufacturing environment.
Press Expertise: Practical experience in the setting and operation of Power Presses.
Safety Certification: Trained on a Press Inspection Course (as part of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 - PUWER) to conduct press safety inspection checks.
Working Arrangement: Full on-site presence in Radway Green working a 3-shift rotation.
Security Clearance: All applicants must achieve, as a minimum, the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Note: Due to security and export control restrictions, candidates must meet national identity, birthplace, and residency criteria (typically requiring continuous UK residency of 5 to 10 years for higher-level national security vetting).
