The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor's design consultancy team based in Liverpool or London. Working within a 750+ strong design consultancy team recognized as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor, you will play a crucial role in delivering sustainable, compliant, and cost-effective mechanical designs for large, complex construction projects from concept through to construction.
Location: Liverpool or London
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week — flexible hours considered)
Salary: Starting from £50,000 per annum + excellent benefits package
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership: Lead the mechanical design team, integrate different disciplines, and drive innovation for high-value major projects, ensuring sustainable and compliant solutions.
Client & Stakeholder Collaboration: Work collaboratively with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to bridge client needs with engineering reality while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Project Delivery: Provide high-quality mechanical designs and specifications that meet client briefs and requirements.
Meetings & Representation: Represent mechanical engineering in project design meetings, establishing solutions and agreeing on concepts.
Technical Excellence: Ensure the delivery of co-ordinated design solutions in adherence with building codes, regulations, and industry standards, while promoting sustainable design and resolving technical and logistical challenges.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications: Hold a Degree in Mechanical Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, and be a member of CIBSE or IET. (Chartered Engineer status or working towards becoming chartered).
Experience: Extensive discipline-specific experience with a high level of technical knowledge, including the application of quality procedures and document control in engineering design.
Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into readily understood information for a wider business audience.
Requirements: Ability to pass a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. (Note: We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship for this role).
