Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with vital support services to connect compassionate professionals with meaningful community roles. We are currently recruiting a dedicated Housing Officer to join the Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC) team in Ipswich.
In this vital role, you will help manage accommodation and provide essential support to individuals and families seeking asylum. By maintaining high property standards, carrying out regular inspections, and ensuring the safety and welfare of service users, your work directly contributes to a supportive, respectful environment.
As a Housing Officer, your responsibilities will include:
Property Standards: Manage and inspect accommodation (including initial accommodation and pre-dispersal checks), ensuring all properties meet contractual requirements, safety regulations, and high living standards.
Service User Support: Provide inductions for new arrivals, offer welfare support, signpost essential services, and respond to requests or complaints via AIRE Services.
Safety & Compliance: Monitor building safety, manage incidents, handle safeguarding requirements, and carry out routine checks (such as weekly fire alarms and CCTV monitoring).
Maintenance & Administration: Carry out first-fix or minor repairs where tasked, manage supplier access, and maintain accurate records of visits, repairs, and daily operations.
Experience: Strong experience working within a service environment, ideally with a background in property management, housing, or security.
Licence: A valid UK driving licence is essential (a company car will be provided for travel between sites).
Core Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-management skills, with the ability to handle delicate or challenging situations calmly.
IT Literacy: Competent with IT systems including MS Word and Excel.
Desirable: Basic maintenance knowledge, safeguarding experience, or security-related background.
Competitive Pay: £29,250.00 per annum with annual salary reviews.
