Prevent Awareness in Care Settings

About this course

A practical introduction to the Prevent duty for care workers. You will learn what Prevent is for, how radicalisation can happen, how to notice and check a concern, how to share it, and what happens next. This course supports, and does not replace, the free Home Office Prevent duty training. It is not accredited.

What you'll learn

• By the end of this module, you will be able to explain what Prevent is for, what the Prevent duty requires, how it reaches care services, and where your own role sits.
• By the end of this module, you will be able to explain the key terms, recognise the main ideologies and online routes, and describe why some people in care settings may be susceptible to radicalisation.
• By the end of this module, you will be able to describe the kinds of change that may give cause for concern, tell them apart from ordinary behaviour, and check a concern properly before it is shared.
• By the end of this module, you will be able to describe how a concern is shared, what happens after a Prevent referral, and when to contact the police straight away.
• By the end of this module, you will be able to describe how a care service builds Prevent into everyday safeguarding, protects people's rights, and supports staff and the person at the centre of a concern.
