Bridge Staffing Agency is partnering with a premier specialist in cyber test ranges to recruit a versatile Network Engineer. You will collaborate closely with infrastructure, security, and platform engineering teams across routing, switching, network security, virtualization, automation, and cloud-connected environments.
Note: Due to the secure nature of this work, candidates must hold a valid Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance at the time of application.
Responsibilities vary according to experience level and include:
Supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and data center networking solutions.
Monitoring network performance and availability, investigating faults, and resolving incidents.
Assisting with network upgrades, migrations, and transformation projects.
Configuring and maintaining switches, routers, firewalls, and related infrastructure.
Supporting network security controls, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control policies.
Maintaining accurate network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
Assisting with capacity planning, performance optimization, and resilience improvements.
Supporting virtualized and software-defined networking environments.
Contributing to network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives.
Collaborating with infrastructure, security, and application teams to deliver reliable services.
For more experienced candidates: Leading technical work packages, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to architectural decisions.
Essential:
Solid grasp of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing and switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and structured troubleshooting.
Practical experience supporting enterprise network environments.
Familiarity with major network vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, HPE, or Fortinet.
Understanding of network security concepts and best practices.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
A proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn and develop technical expertise.
Desirable:
Experience with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS) and firewall/VPN technologies.
Knowledge of wireless networking and cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, hybrid environments).
Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, KVM, Proxmox).
Exposure to network automation tools like Ansible, Python, or Terraform.
Experience with monitoring platforms (SolarWinds, Zabbix, PRTG) and Software Defined Networking (SDN).
Ability to travel to company premises or other venues as required.

Base Salary: Up to £78,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
