Position: Lead Engineer (Permanent Role)

Salary: Up to £49,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training, and qualification)
Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with The London Independent Hospital in Stepney Green—part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading independent healthcare provider—to recruit a skilled Lead Engineer for their Operations department.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 37.5 hours a week on a flexible shift pattern. In this vital leadership role, you will oversee engineering maintenance operations, manage equipment and building faults, and lead a team of engineering operatives to ensure a safe, compliant, and smoothly running hospital environment.
Maintenance Management: Ensure the safe and effective completion of all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks in line with Circle Health Group Standard Operating Procedures.
Fault Resolution: Manage the prompt and secure engineering response to building and equipment faults with minimal disruption to clinical services.
Medical Equipment: Oversee Electro-Biomedical Engineering (EBME) maintenance routines to guarantee all medical devices are serviced and completely safe for use.
Team Leadership: Provide day-to-day leadership and line management for engineering operatives, allocating tasks, monitoring performance, and upholding competency standards.
Culture & Safety: Promote a positive, safety-first working environment that encourages professional development, high performance, and service excellence.
Qualifications: City & Guilds Part 3, HNC, or NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Certifications: Valid CSCS card or ECS card (if electrically qualified) at the appropriate level.
Experience: Proven background in engineering maintenance, ideally within a hospital or critical services environment, alongside practical experience in team leadership and performance management.
Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation, risk management, fire safety, and Legionella prevention.
Core Skills: Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
Desirable Criteria: Time-served apprenticeship, Fire Safety/Risk Assessment training, sub-contractor and minor works management experience, familiarity with CAFM systems, and knowledge of energy management or environmental reporting.
Competitive Pay: Starting salary of up to £49,000.00 per year based on experience, qualifications, and training.
