In this vital role on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), you will carry out meaningful assessments to understand how a person's health condition affects their daily life. Your work will ensure fair, comprehensive evaluations that help create a positive impact for thousands of people.

What You’ll Do

As a Functional Assessor, your responsibilities will include:

• Assessments: Speak with customers by phone, face-to-face, or online to carry out functional health assessments and gather accurate details.

• Consultation: Consult with treating healthcare professionals where appropriate to build a complete picture.

• Report Writing: Produce fair, high-quality, and objective reports on behalf of the DWP.

• Customer Care: Use your observational, communication, and note-taking skills to ensure every customer is treated with empathy, dignity, and respect.

What We Are Looking For

• Professional Background: One year of post-registration experience as a Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic, or Pharmacist.

• Registration: Full registration with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, or equivalent) with an active PIN and no restrictions.

• Core Skills: Strong communication, listening, and report-writing skills, with the ability to work efficiently under time pressures and use IT systems effectively.

Vetting and Checks

All Functional Assessors must successfully complete the full pre-employment security screening process, including an Enhanced DBS check, prior to starting the role.
