As a Functional Assessor in our Health Assessment Advisory Service team, you will carry out meaningful, vital work on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). You will evaluate how an individual's health condition affects their day-to-day life through fair, comprehensive, and respectful assessments.
This role provides Registered Nurses (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Physiotherapists, Paramedics, Occupational Therapists, and Pharmacists with a unique opportunity to apply your clinical expertise in a new way, operating within a supportive, purpose-led environment that champions continuous professional development.
Assessments & Consultations: Engage with customers by phone, face-to-face, or online to carry out functional health assessments and gather detailed, accurate information.
Professional Collaboration: Consult with treating healthcare professionals where appropriate to ensure a well-rounded evaluation.
Comprehensive Reporting: Produce fair, high-quality, and objective reports on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions.
Customer Care: Use your observational, listening, and communication skills to ensure every customer is treated with empathy, dignity, and respect.
We are looking for a qualified, registered clinician with strong communication skills and an analytical, empathetic approach to evaluation.
Professional Experience: Minimum of 1 year of post-registration clinical experience as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic, or Pharmacist.
Active Registration: Full registration with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, or equivalent) with an active PIN and no restrictions.
Core Competencies: Excellent listening, communication, and report-writing skills, with the ability to produce concise, accurate documentation.
Digital & Time Management Skills: Good IT literacy and the ability to work efficiently and manage workloads under time pressures.
Vetting Requirement: Successful completion of pre-employment security screening, including an Enhanced DBS check.
Financial Package: Competitive starting salary of £47,000 - £50,000 per year, backed by guaranteed salary uplifts within the first 12 months.
