We are excited to represent Avery Healthcare in their search for a skilled, warm, and dedicated Maintenance Operative on a flexible bank contract to join the award-winning team at Wandsworth Common Care Home in London.
The Role
Are you a practical, hands-on professional looking for a rewarding role where your expertise ensures a safe, fully functional, and well-presented environment for residents? As a Maintenance Operative, your focus will be to ensure the building and grounds are exceptionally maintained, undertaking routine tasks, system checks, and basic fixes across equipment and facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Carrying out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs—including electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building tasks—both inside and outside the home.
Supporting new residents by helping them arrange their rooms to their preference.
Ensuring routine redecoration is completed as required to maintain the home’s high standards.
Advising on the supply and quality of materials, ensuring the timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods.
Providing an out-of-hours emergency service by participating in the on-call rota.
About You

Requirements:
A minimum of 1 year of experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
Hold a full driving licence.
Good knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly regarding Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety, and COSHH assessments.
Adaptability and flexibility to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
Requirements for Employment: Proof of eligibility to work in the UK and a DBS Disclosure check (the cost of which is fully covered by Avery Healthcare).
