Supportive Bridge Staffing & Recruitment is delighted to assist our valued client in recruiting an experienced Paediatric Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse (Band 6) to join their team in Peterborough, UK. Located at Peterborough City Hospital within an established NHS Foundation Trust, this fixed-term position (11 months, until 23rd August 2027) offers an exceptional leadership opportunity within a state-of-the-art paediatric care environment.
In this part-time position working 30 hours per week, you will work across Amazon Children’s Ward (a 30-bed unit including HDU beds) and the Jungle Paediatric Assessment Unit. You will serve as an expert clinical role model, advocating for young patients aged 0–18, coordinating multidisciplinary care, supervising junior staff, and supporting ward leadership to maintain high standards of paediatric and high-dependency care.
Role Description
As a Band 6 Paediatric Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, you will deliver autonomous, evidence-based care, assist in managing ward teams, and oversee clinical standards across general paediatric inpatient and high-dependency care areas.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver and evaluate comprehensive physical, social, and emotional care for children and young people in accordance with NMC guidelines.
Act as an expert clinical role model, supervising junior staff, organizing workloads, and leading teams within Amazon Ward and Jungle Assessment Unit.
Coordinate high-dependency paediatric care and actively contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, and family-centred advocacy.
Requirements
Active NMC registration as a Registered Children’s Nurse (RSCN/RN Child) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an acute/specialty paediatric setting.
Proven post-registration qualification or evidence of training in Paediatric High Dependency Care (Level 1/2) alongside a mentorship module or equivalent.
Strong leadership, team management, and clinical prioritization skills with demonstrated experience in paediatric high-dependency or PICU environments.

Calculated hourly rate of £20.49 to £24.68 per hour (based on £39,959 - £48,117 per annum pro rata across 30 hours per week).
