In this dynamic culinary role, you will work alongside and deputize for the Head Chef, helping manage kitchen operations and preparing fresh, nutritious, and diet-sensitive meals tailored to residents' requirements. You will actively contribute to menu planning, consult with residents regarding their preferences, and ensure high standards of health, safety, and food hygiene across all shift services.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with and lead daily kitchen operations in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring food preparation meets high culinary and nutritional standards.
Develop balanced, diet-sensitive menus using fresh local produce, consulting directly with residents to accommodate personal choices.
Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards, health and safety regulations, and inventory control guidelines.
Requirements
Catering Diploma (City & Guilds/BTEC), NVQ Level 2/3 in Practical Cookery, and Food Hygiene Certificate (Minimum Level 2).
Solid knowledge of nutritionally balanced menu design and experience catering for specific dietary requirements.
Experience in a care home environment or stock/budget control is advantageous, alongside strong teamwork and leadership skills.
