About the Opportunity

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with BAE Systems—a global leader in defence, aerospace, and security—to source an innovative and driven Undergraduate Air Software Engineer for a 12-month industrial placement in Brough.

As part of the world-renowned Air Team, you will create cutting-edge software for advanced platforms, engaging in the entire product lifecycle from concept, design, and development through to delivery and maintenance in service. This placement offers an extraordinary platform to develop safety-critical, mission-critical, and ground-based software solutions for world-leading aircraft programs like the Typhoon, F-35, and Tempest.

Role Overview

Working on complex, real-time systems and software platforms, you will be trusted to play an active role in software development and testing. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers to deliver robust software solutions that meet strict quality and schedule standards while gaining hands-on exposure to aerospace engineering environments.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

• Task Execution: Complete allocated requirements, design, implementation, and test tasks to a high standard, within schedule and estimates.

• Software Development: Build and code robust software solutions for complex real-time systems.

• Testing & Validation: Thoroughly test completed functionality to ensure operational reliability.

• Technical Documentation: Produce appropriate technical documentation in line with project standards.

• Peer Reviews: Participate actively in peer reviews of your own and others' work products.

• Process Adherence: Adhere to project processes, software development practices, and configuration management for completed work.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Academic Background: Must be on track to obtain a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Software Development, Electronic Engineering, or a related subject.

• Working Arrangement: On-site presence in Brough 3 to 4 days per week under hybrid working guidelines.

• Security Clearance: All applicants must achieve, as a minimum, the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Note: Due to security and export control restrictions, candidates must meet national identity, birthplace, and residency criteria (typically requiring continuous UK residency of 5 to 10 years for higher-level national security vetting).
