We are proud to partner with BAE Systems to source an experienced Client-Side Construction Project Manager to join their dynamic Investment Projects team in Lancashire.
About the Role
In this pivotal role, you will plan, procure, and govern the end-to-end delivery of major facility projects across the Warton and Samlesbury sites—ranging from building refurbishments and large-scale redevelopments to complex manufacturing plant installations. Acting directly on behalf of end-users as the client, you will align scope, budget, programme, quality, and safety while directing multidisciplinary consultants and contractors.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Act as the client, defining project objectives and ensuring all delivery decisions align with cost, quality, and programme requirements.
Establish and control project briefs and success criteria from inception through to handover and close-out.
Appoint and manage professional services teams (designers, cost consultants, planners) and oversee contractor performance.
Monitor and control budgets, cost planning, value engineering, change control, and financial reporting.
Oversee construction delivery, ensuring full compliance with statutory obligations, CDM regulations, and permits to work.
What We Are Looking For (Essential Skills & Qualifications):
Project Experience: Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex, high-value construction or infrastructure projects (£20m+ preferred).
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methodologies, industrial building systems, and complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations.
Commercial & Contract Acumen: Experience working within or managing standard contract forms (e.g., NEC, JCT) alongside strong risk-based decision-making skills.
Educational Background: Degree or HNC qualified in Construction, Building Services, or related built environment disciplines (such as Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or Building Surveying).
Security Note: Due to defense and export control restrictions, all applicants must achieve at least a Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Higher levels of National Security Vetting may apply where required.
